Kombucha is a fermented tea made with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY), it contains live probiotics and it is often flavored with fruits or herbs.

Meet the Founders

Chris & Jena are the Dynamic Duo Behind Off the Rails Kombucha from South Carolina

Jena and Chris value a healthy lifestyle. They believe in active time out in nature, putting good things into their bodies, and above all God comes first in their lives.

In 2022, Chris and Jena realized they needed a change of scenery. They knew it was God’s plan for them to move to Greenville, SC. So they packed up their lives and headed to Greenville, South Carolina in search of warmer days, more smiles, and a life filled with more adventure, and plans God only knew. Sunshine, open trails, and endless opportunities to get outside quickly revealed something important—exploring, being active, and discovering new things wasn’t just a hobby; it was part of who they were. Greenville, South Carolina felt like home from the start. With every hike, paddle, and weekend wander, they uncovered more of themselves and watched long-held dreams start taking shape.

Our Values & Mission

Along their wellness journey, two priorities became clear:

1. Seek adventure and try new things.
Stepping away from screens and into nature sparked mental and emotional clarity. Every new trail, new activity, and new challenge opened the door to self-discovery and healthier rhythms.

2. Nourish the body with intention.
Cutting back on sugar helps the body function better. This meant ditching sodas and most juices, which led them to kombucha—a flavorful, low-sugar drink that fit perfectly into an active, wellness-focused lifestyle. With its bold taste and endless flavor possibilities, it quickly became their go-to companion for any adventure, any time of day.

Today, Off the Rails Kombucha reflects that journey: a blend of curiosity, creativity, wellness, and the belief that life is better when you step outside and explore.

Meet Chris Ehlers, Brewer Extraordinaire and Manager of

Chris’s brewing journey began more than 10 years ago with home-brewing, a passion he carried with him to Upstate, South Carolina.

What began as a fun, healthy hobby quickly grew into a passion-driven business after Chris and Jena shared their kombucha with friends and coworkers and received glowing feedback. They’ve since opened countless eyes (and taste buds!) to how delicious kombucha can be, winning over skeptics who never cared for it before and even introducing first-timers to a drink they now love.

From the very beginning, Chris committed to locally brewed, craft kombucha using only organic tea, organic cane sugar, and fresh fruit—never artificial flavors or additives.

With over a decade of marketing experience, including running her own business, Jennovative Marketing, LLC, Jena brings both creativity and strategy to the brand. Beyond marketing, she’s also a passionate writer and artist, channeling her love for storytelling and design into every aspect of Off the Rails Kombucha.
